Greetings!
I read a few blogs. I have a few e-mail friends. I watch the news. Most of you all out there are enjoying a REAL winter. Cold temperatures, snow, the works.
I LOVE winter. Oh I've never really experienced a truly cold winter, like those of you at 40 below, but I like winter temperatures around the freezing level, snow on the ground, cosy fires, hot chocolate, the still and hush of a snowy landscape. It nourishes my soul.
Before Christmas we had a bit of snow and a short cold snap, but Christmas day dawned wet and green, and we've been mostly that way ever since.
Today's morning news report says we are in for 200 mm of rain by the end of tomorrow. That's about 8 inches for you non-metric types. The temperature is about 11C (think 52F or so)
I would gladly trade with any of you for a few wintry days. My green and lukewarm for your white and cold. If you are hating the snow and cold, and want to
Meanwhile, my grass is greener.

If you had posted this back in December, right before Christmas, I could have thrown tons of snow in your direction - after our 19" of the white stuff fell. However, there is no snow in my part of South Carolina.
You would like this story...my 4y/o piano student arrived Monday... holding out her tongue while trying to talk, said, "Look Ms. Vivian, I caught a snowflake on my tongue."
I feel the same way you do, Kathryn!! But there's a saying: Watch out what you wish for!
Thumbing your nose at the rest of us, huh?
Oh, oops. I forgot that I'm not in Calgary with -29 and the back yard full of brown dog poop dotted all over the virgin snow. I'm in the south of France with....oh, snow! Not a lot. Certainly not enough to make a snowball out of. Sorry.
Kathryn, as I was walking home from 4th Avenue in Kitsilano today, I saw a rosebud almost in full bloom. I wished I had had my camera with me. It's almost like spring here!
Bonnie, you don't usually have snow in SC do you? Lovely to hear from you, btw.
Viv, I just love that image of the little one thinking that the flake survived on her tongue.
Jacquie, You're right, of course, but we are in for a cosy rainy day tomorrow, so I'm getting SOME weather, anyway.
Deb, Au contraire, I am not thumbing my nose at any of my frosty friends - I really do want some of the white stuff, and an excuse to cocoon here for a few weeks longer. glad you've escaped the poop, though, and have landed safely back at home a la mode!
Jo, If our winter is like spring, what's our spring going to be like?
The trees and plants are all confused!
No snow here either, at least for now, and I'm o.k. with that. :D But 8 inches of rain in one day would send me over the edge! We got 1/4 inch in a day and it seemed to rain forever. Most of our rain comes in 10 minute bursts, lol.
If you and Dave move over to the island, will you see more snow? Maybe you need to move further inland instead?

Consider yourself snowballed
Kathryn, South Carolina - at least along the beaches - gets very little snow. Last year this time we had a trace of the white stuff which was the first in something like 6 or 7 years. It can stay away as far as I am concerned.
I would love it if we could time travel like the book I'm reading. We could just swap places because I'm yearning for color!
This past Christmas, we had our first white Christmas EVER. We then froze in frigid teen and sub-zero wind chill temperatures. I would love your greener grass about this time... :)
Von, I think the island will be just as green as where I am now. It was very snowy when i lived there between 1968 and 1978, but things have changed!
Bonnie,
I'm sorry, I know you're not fond of the snow. Hopefully next year will be better for you!
Christine,
Thanks! It tastes a little salty from the sea air...
Nancy,
time travel? Outlander series? Synchronicity Trish?
Shattered,
You send me a snowball and I'll send you a very wet green grass ball.
