The make-up artist

Over a year ago I posted about my daughter here.  She had decided to attend Vancouver Film School to become a make-up artist.

I worried that she'd find it hard to balance work and school.  I hoped she wouldn't give up.
A year later I can say that she most definitely did not give up.  Somehow, she managed to support herself and not only achieve her goal, but excel.
I am so proud of her!

Here's a  link to read a brief article and see her portfolio.  The work these students do is phenomenal; the corrective and special effects are amazing, and contribute so much to the story.  I don't think I'll ever watch a movie the same way again.

Now school is over and the work of finding a job begins.  Like before, I wish her all the best and I know she'll do well.

If you know our family you may see some familiar faces in the portfolio....

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! That is one remarkable portfolio!! The masks and the awful stuff...just wow. I didn't like seeing Tris like that, though...you know which one I mean, I'm sure. And Dave - so strange to see him sort of looking like himself, but not really.
Taryn really does have a big talent. She's find her way in this business, I'm absolutely sure. Specially if her mom's pride has anything to do with it...

Complete congratulations to your girl! This is excellent--just as excellent as her proving your worries unfounded and showing you all that she is capable of. Don't you love it?

I am delighted for you all...and for the world of tv, film, and future family holiday letters that will benefit from her prowess.

Wow Kathryn, she is really talented. Must be kind of strange seeing your own family in some of those though.
I love the all-over silver birch one. Your daughter can paint it, mine would totally go out of the house wearing it ;D

Wow! Congratulations to her, and to you. She's so talented. Thanks for the links. But I keep thinking how great it would be to have such a talented daughter make up MY face now and then. :-)

She's bound to make her way with her talent.
Having a proud and supportive mum probably helps a bit, too.
