Hi there!

I've been away for a few days, and then super busy at work.

I will eventually post pictures of my stitching progress etc from the stitching holiday, but for now I'll continue with the mind-numbing photos of motorcycle parts we have for sale here. Remember this is my husband's SABLE (Stash Accumulation Beyond Life Expectancy).

When the last part is sold we can retire. Bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha....hysterical laughter dissolving into tears... (partly because he keeps buying more)

Here goes:
Come on in and take a seat. Please! Take a seat, or 2 or 12....
These are forks. Not the dessert kind, unfortunately. Not the interesting fork in the road, either.
They go on each side of the front wheel. Important for steering and suspension. Heavy and greasy.
These are other parts. I know the names of all of them, but just don't feel like telling you now. Really! We ship this stuff all over the place, dirt included. Just another value-added service we offer....Canadian dirt on Canadian parts. Will someone please come over here and buy all this stuff? Please? Or take me away from it all? Here are some very interesting....parts. Engine parts, I think. Clutch baskets, thing-a-ma-bobs, and dooflingers. Sorry for all the technical jargon. Please try to keep up.
Why, here's a pretty sight! Many colourful Rubbermaid bins! Bins full of....motorcycle parts. We should buy shares at Rubbermaid. We buy so many bins, I'm sure we've put all their kids through school. This is one of the prettier aisles upstairs. Pretty is a relative term.
And here we have a shot of the rafters. Some people think that rafters are for holding up the roof. My husband thinks that rafters are for parts storage. What a guy!
This is one of the not-so-pretty aisles. This is a place for tripping and swearing. Hunting and crying. This is an aisle of mess and shame. This aisle did not get cleaned up this winter and will now be a source of trouble this summer. This is one of many aisles in similar condition. I just want all of you to see what I'm dealing with here. Try to wrap your minds around my situation. Have a good stiff drink or some chocolate if that helps.

This is one of the more manageable areas. It's near my desk. I can find things here, and they're not so dirty. Brake pads, brake shoes, fork seals and sprockets. Etcetera. When I'm in this aisle I feel almost sane. Almost.

And then, just when I'm feeling sane, I decide to use the bathroom.

What greets me this time? Someone's dirty lunch dishes, a filthy emergency eye-wash bottle, and an air filter drying itself jauntily on the faucet.

This is one of the good days.......

Next post....something pretty and needlework related, I promise!

Tales from the Bike Wrecker

Allow me to explain what I/we do for a living.
http://www.motorcycle-parts.ca/

We are a motorcycle salvage shop. We also do repairs and service on all Japanese makes and models, and we sell used motorcycles as well. We are NOT a shiny new dealership.

We have parts, a LOT of parts.
This is just one tiny sampling of the stuff we have here.....
....and I have many funny stories about this place.
But Dave has said it's time to go home; I will be gone for a few days to a needlework retreat, and will get back to the bikes when I return (and reality hits me in the head again - ha ha).
Until then,

Sunday morning drivel

Howdy y'all,

Just back from a little walk down at White Rock beach. I did NOT take my camera - boo hoo - but I will next time. Dave and I strolled the sea-wall walk, ventured out on to the pier, and then stopped for fish and chips at Moby Dick's! Dave said after that we'd had a week's worth of grease in one meal, but I said that the fish cancels it out.

Hockey playoffs are on TV today. I am just, this year, getting interested in watching hockey (in a sad effort to find some common ground with my boy, pathetic sap that I am), so we'll watch a little Vancouver Canucks vs. St Louis Blues hockey later. Go Canucks!

I have to post at least one picture just to perk things up: a wildflower I saw while on a camping trip last year. What is it? I don't know.

Happy Sunday!

I'm feeling a little sluggish.
(I know nature is beautiful, but this redefines beauty somewhat, don't you think?)

But I'd rather feel a little Loony.

So I'm going to try to focus on a little water voyage I'll be taking soon. (Bigger boat, though)

Where I'll see some of these...

...and a LOT of these.....

...but hopefully not too many of these !

Can't wait to go to the VS Retreat!

Copyright Poem, and others....

All my stuff (on this site) is copyrighted.

All my stuff is copyrighted,
Steal my stuff and you'll be smited!,
Tell on bad guys - you'll be knighted.
Buy me candy - I'm excited!
Send me fudge, I'll be delighted
Oh dear now it's all been bited.
See my belly - Now you're frighted

Oh, what a mess I did digress
when all I really meant to say was

All my stuff is copyrighted.

Next poem: (sung to the tune of "She'll be comin' 'round the mountain")

She has eaten all her fu-udge

She has eaten all her fu-udge, yes she has (yes, she has!)
She has eaten all her fu-udge, yes she has (yes, she has!)
She has eaten all her fu-udge, now her body's turned to slu-udge
She has eaten all her fu-udge, yes she has (What a Spaz!)

More poetry later...........

Whew! It's getting to be very busy at work, so I've been finding it a little hard to get computer time for "me".

So.....I'll just post a couple of pictures of the husband and boy's camping/dirt-biking trip.

1. Cold and frosty mountain view from the camp-site. Note: campsite = wide verge on dirt road leading to who knows where.

2. Sweaty and happy husband and son.

Note the helmet-hair!

3. Just when you thought you really got away from civilisation, up pops a power line. Oh well, neat picture anyway.

Happy Easter to those who celebrate!

"Happy Easter to those who celebrate!"

I received this group message this morning from a friend who doesn't celebrate Easter, but I'd never really thought much about the fact that she doesn't celebrate, nor why not. Her faith does not celebrate Easter - they have other Holy Days.

At first I mentally included myself in the list of Easter celebrants, but then I realized that I don't really celebrate in the true sense either.

Sure, I grew up with chocolate eggs and bunny lore. My ancestors were active Christians; my parents non-practising Christians; my brother and I christened, but with no follow-up. There should be a name for those of us who blindly follow the fun part of these holidays (Holy Days, originally) without any knowledge of or regard for the original meaning. Shallowists? Frostings?

Don't get me wrong - I love the Bunny, I love Santa, I love gifts and candy and I love watching small children, in particular, enjoy these days. I look forward to spending these days with future grandchildren, when I will shower them with too much candy, too many presents. I will colour eggs and I will light candles and I will be there to see their excitement on these "special" mornings.

But I do appreciate that this day is, to many people, profoundly meaningful. Spiritually joyful. There's a reason for the eggs. So to you, especially, I wish a very Happy Easter.
(For the rest of us posers....Enjoy your chocolate, your dinner and your family.)

Alone at Easter

This Easter Weekend finds me alone without my home family for the first time in my life.
Daughter is in Mexico, and husband and son are camping. Tall house guest is away too.
(I'll explain about tall house guest in another post).

I had to go to the post office, and there, beside it was the grocery store. Beckoning to me with it's quarter-eating buggies, muzak, and the heady sound of checkout beeps. Hmmm......maybe I'll get myself a treat......

Emerged an hour later and $247.00 lighter with a number of items. Among them:

Canada Dry Green Tea Ginger Ale (sweet nectar of goodness and bubbles - half gone because I couldn't help myself).

Marinated Artichoke hearts. I love these and they love me back because they are HEARTS! They, too, are half gone because I made myself a pasta dish for supper. Drool. I heart hearts.

Maple Fudge. I love you Maple Fudge. You are all for me and I am all for you. Like Tom and Renee: We complete each other. I am perfect except for lack of fudge, and fudge is perfect except for lack of me.
Later tonight, when the blinds are drawn, the fireplace hissing romantically, the lights down low.....the two shall become one. The fudge and I will join together and let no one tear us asunder. Oh, fudgie baby!

(Did you notice the expiry date on the fudge? July? This fudge will not even get to see tomorrow, never mind July!)

Ahem! Before the fudge and I go on our mutual voyage of self discovery later this evening, I am first having my parents over for one more thing I bought:

Easter Cake !
Excuse the misty plastic covering. It was in the fridge.

After mom and dad leave, then the fudge and I will ..... Set the Night on Fire!
Being alone for Easter is a lot easier than I thought it would be.

Happy Easter weekend everyone!

Minor Miracles

I don't know where miracles come from. I really don't.

But when you try to take a picture of a pretty flower and lean in to get a nice close shot and you see tiny little flowers INSIDE the original flower, well then.....

A miracle! (Go ahead - click on the picture and see for yourself!)

Stay tuned for more flower photos. I'm in a Spring-y mood!
